Lifestyle Newborn Photography in Northern VA – Baby Olivia

I met this beautiful, loving family with brand new baby girl during a lifestyle newborn session in Northern VA.  Sweet big sister stole my heart, and gorgeous nursery with great light was a dream to work in.   I am really happy to share this one on my blog.  I hope you will enjoy these sweet images, as mach as I did capturing them!

About Lifestyle Newborn Photography

I have been photographing newborn babies for the past 10 years.   Since I opened my studio in  2014, it is not often I get to do a lifestyle newborn session in Northern VA or Washington DC area any more.  And I miss them a lot.  Whenever I get the opportunity to step out of my studio and meet families at the comfort of their home, I fall in love with lifestyle newborn photography all over again.   There is such sweetness and authenticity about having you baby photographed at home.  I would love every new parent to consider having these precious time in their life documented.  Time flies, memories fade, pictures remain :).  I find whenever siblings are involved I am able to give them more time and coverage during the in-home session than in the studio.  

If I could compare creative in-studio session to the lifestyle at-home session in a few words I would say; studio newborn session is about your baby.  At home newborn session is about your family.  When your gallery is presented following in studio session, 70% of the images are beautiful posed baby portraits, the rest being family images.  While following a lifestyle session 70% of images involve baby caputued with a family members.  There is no right or wrong, or a better session to choose.  It is simply a matter of artistic expression and personal taste. I want my clients to know, that I offer lifestyle newborn photography in Northern VA and Washington DC, and I would love to work with you, if this is the style you choose.

About your House

Sometimes people are hesitant to invite me to their homes. They worry their home and furnishings do not look good enough.  As society we spend way too much time on Pinterest and have unrealistic expectations of ourselves, our lives, homes, children etc.  Clients often don’t realize that lifestyle sessions comes out beautifully in much less perfect surroundings.  This particular session, was captured predominantly in one room, the nursery.  We took a few shots in the master bedroom and the hallway.  But 75% of it was captured in the nursery.  And we could have done the entire session in this one room if need.  

If you love the feel and look of lifestyle newborn photos, do go for it! Do not worry about having a perfect house and decor.  I have been in many different homes, big and small, more or less trendy and we have made it work in all, with beautiful results.
