Infant Photos at home – Reston VA Newborn Photographer!

I adore lifestyle newborn photo sessions!  I have to admit, my demand for studio posed session is higher (70-80% of my clients). When the opportunity arises to come out for an in-home infant session, I am excited.

Why Lifestyle Newborn Photography

Lifestyle session captures your family, at the special point in your life, in a beautiful, timeless way.  Your life, your family, your story, your house. You will never get board of these story-telling images of the tiny little human that changed your life forever.  As time passes you will look back to the amazing time when you brought your newborn baby home, and these images will only grow in their value.

If infant photography is not in your plan, or you think it out of your budget – I ask you to reconsider.  You cannot re-create or put a dollar value on memories.  They do fade as time passes. There is no better investment you can make then to capture your baby’s infancy – for yourself and for him/her.

The Nursery

I love walking into the nursery and seeing a tiny baby in its natural environment.  Nurseries now days are nothing short of amazing – partially due to Pinterest, partly due to an amazing variety of baby products on the market.  I had a pleasure to visit and photograph this beautiful family welcoming their second son, in Reston VA.  The little pumpkin was awake almost the entire session. He did not want to miss anything –  we got many eyes open shots.  During a studio session, this would be a challenge. But during lifestyle photo shoot, it worked out beautifully.

The nursery!!!! Amazing, modern, light, and airy – I could have done the entire session there :)…love the white crib – and the adorable little pumpkin in it – in the first picture, what a precious expression.  Big brother, a baby himself, loves him so much already – and I got to capture that love.  Lifestyle newborn session aims primarily at capturing true moments and relationships between siblings and the entire family.

What if your nursery is not as beautifully styled as this one?  Is the at-home session worth it, will the pictures turn out well?  I do get asked this question.  The answer is yes! Your entire house does not have to look like images on Pinterest – I often find myself looking through client’s homes for areas that will photograph well, and shoot there.  There is always an area in your home that will suit, even if we have move the furniture around or move some clutter out. It may not look like it to you, but it will through my lens :). Trust me!  Do not let your home’s decor deter you from getting your pictures taken.

Lifestyle or Studio Newborn Session

I always advise clients to follow their style when it comes to newborn photography.  If you are drawn to perfectly posed creative shots then you should book a studio session.  If you prefer more natural, true to life photography then lifestyle session is your answer.  I invite you to look through my in-home and in-studio gallery to get a visual idea of both styles.  Do not pass on the opportunity to documenting your baby’s infancy – it is only possible in their first month (for an in-home sessions) and first two weeks for a studio session.
